UCDP is the world’s main provider of data on organized violence. Its definitions of state based armed conflict, non-state conflict and one-sided violence has become the global standard for how conflicts are systematically defined, measured and studied. UCDP produces high-quality data, which are systematically collected, have global coverage, are comparable across cases and countries, and have long time series that are updated annually. UCDP codes over 500 variables in 18 datasets describing three forms of organized violence, actors, issues, and peace efforts globally from 1946 (or 1989) to present. UCDP also provides encyclopedic texts, charts, graphs and visualization tools. The UCDP is a unique source of information for researchers, practitioners and policymakers. Users are found at universities across the globe, as well as among numerous NGO’s, governments, IGO’s, including the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the World Bank.
UCDP has collected data on armed violence for over 40 years and brings its expertise in and experience with collecting data on violent deaths to the GReVD Consortium.
